It’s been a few months, well four months between posts, not great, although that’s all about to change.
I plan to begin posting regularly and in starting the year off I think I should share the main event, which transpired over the past four months.
Around the time I stopped posting I was in the final stages of being appointed to the new role of Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of State Trustees which I formerly took up on December 2, 2013.
In being appointed to the role of CEO, I have had the most rewarding, humbling and exciting change in my professional career to date.
As Victoria’s Public Trustee, State Trustees has helped protect the interests of Victorians since 1939 and I now have the honor of continuing that proud legacy.
For almost 50 years, State Trustees operated as The Public Trust Office of Victoria, which came about after the Victorian Government, brought together the offices of The Curator of Estates of Deceased Persons and The Master in Equity.
In 1987, State Trustees was created and its management came under a board of directors.
In 1994, State Trustees Limited (trading as State Trustees) became a state-owned enterprise, meaning that the company operates as a private company with the State of Victoria as the sole shareholder.
As State Trustees new CEO, I am humbled and proud to lead an organisation with more than 430 employees across the State of Victoria, an organisation that has a history of servicing the Victorian community for 75 years.
Through the activity of highly capable, engaged and passionate people; we offer services which include the preparation of Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney, Management of Deceased Estates, acting as Legal and Financial Administrator for more than 9,000 vulnerable Victorians who, due to mental illness, injury or disability, are unable to fully manage their own legal and financial affairs.
We also administer more than 3,000 personal, testamentary and charitable trusts including the State Trustees Australia Foundation along with Funds Management, Funeral Funds, Taxation and Genealogical services.
It’s an honor to lead an organisation whose purpose aligns so closely with my own, an organisation populated with great people, an organisation to be proud of and one that’s a pleasure to work within.
I look forward to sharing the journey with you here and on twitter where you can follow me @cdent.
